Overview Azure Storage is the core storage foundation for Azure, providing over 100 exabytes of capacity across thousands of storage clusters in datacenters worldwide, powering millions of Azure services and workloads. The Software Engineer for Azure xDPU Storage Team – Hardware Enablement is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of Fungible DPU-based Azure Storage devices as they integrate next-generation networking and compute offload hardware. This role focuses on safe bring-up, validation, and scaled production operation of DPU-enabled platforms, bridging hardware, firmware, software reliability, and maintenance. This role works across hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, and software layers to enable next-generation Azure Storage platforms. You will collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to improve reliability, drive automation, enhance observability, and support the deployment and operation of DPU-enabled storage systems at scale. Responsibilities Owns end-to-end reliability for Azure Storage hardware running in on-prem lab environments, including on-site work. Partners with silicon, firmware, BIOS, networking, and OS teams to enable and validate DPU hardware for specific storage use cases. Defines, measures, and improves Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for DPU-accelerated storage scenarios within our lab. Leads live-site incident response and mitigation for hardware-, firmware-, or DPU-related issues, including deep root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries. Builds automation for provisioning, configuration, validation, canarying, rollback, patching, and recovery of DPU-enabled Azure Storage systems in large internal labs. Creates and maint
